The Explorer jacket was born from the idea of fusing a traditional Hunting jacket, Chore coat and Deck jacket together. You'll see references to all of these timeless styles in the raglan sleeve, large cargo style pockets and the Jungle Cloth fabric they selected. Jungle Cloth is a densely woven brushed back fabric used by the US Navy in various applications, but most notably in the popular USN-1 Deck Jacket favored by sailors in WWII for its warmth and durability. It is naturally water-resistant due to its dense weave construction, it does not have a repellent coating on it and is not waterproof.
