Based on the classic Levi’s 501 from 1955, this cut provides a similar fit to their relaxed tapered 888 style, with a more traditional silhouette. To achieve this, the 1955 cut features a slightly higher front rise, a fuller knee, and a little less taper to the hem. This means that — just like the highly coveted vintage Levi’s that came before them — these jeans offer a relaxed yet flattering fit for most body types, shown here in our mid-weight 14oz selvedge denim.
To create this darkened variation, Iron heart take a pair of standard IH-1955S-142 jeans and steep the entire garment in black dye using a sulphur dyeing process. This stains the indigo denim and stitching, and oxidises the metal hardware — with the added bonus of removing all shrinkage from the fabric. A unique middle ground between our traditional indigo and black denims, over time the fabric will gradually fade with blue-tinged hues in high-wear areas.
